Government fees and taxes are subject to change and MSC Cruises reserves the right to collect any increases in effect at the time of sailing, even if the fare has already been paid in full. Government fees and taxes are collected for all guests regardless of age. MSC Cruises reserves the right to pass on any fuel surcharge without prior notice to guests.
Luggage and Personal Effects
MSC Cruises, its employees and agents do not accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft of guests’ luggage or any personal effects. MSC Cruises’ responsibility with respect to lost, damaged or undelivered luggage is strictly limited as stated in the Passenger Contract. In the event of loss or damage to luggage or personal effects, immediate notification should be made to a representative of MSC Cruises.
Itinerary Changes
MSC Cruises reserves the right to cancel, change, modify or substitute ports of call at any time and for any reason whatsoever without prior notice, and shall not be held liable for any loss to guests by reason of such change, cancellation or substitution.
Minors
Any guest under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult over the age of 21 who expressly agrees to be responsible for the minor and is booked in the same or connecting stateroom.
Health and Medical Requirements
Guests are requested to report any physical or mental condition or disability that may require special attention or treatment to MSC Cruises at time of booking. Shipboard medical services and facilities, including medical personnel, are available to all guests at a reasonable rate. Guests are required to bring an adequate supply of medication.
Medical Services
Medical services are provided aboard MSC’s vessels as a convenience to passengers. There is a charge for services and/or medicines provided by the ship’s doctor and medical personnel. MSC’s vessels are equipped with an infirmary that is usually staffed by a physician and nurse(s). Although many injuries are capable of being treated on board, the shipboard medical infirmary has limited medical equipment and not all injuries or conditions can be adequately treated aboard the vessels. In some circumstances, the medical personnel may arrange for a visit to a shore-side medical facility at a port of call. Depending on the itinerary, available shore-side medical facilities may also have limited treatment capabilities. Due to the nature of sea travel, urgent medical evacuation at sea is not always feasible due to reasons beyond MSC’s control. Guests should confer with their family physician to ensure they are fit for travel by sea. Although the ship’s doctor and medical personnel may wear uniforms or badges with an MSC insignia, the doctor and medical personnel are independent contractors. MSC does not control the medical treatment rendered to guests by the medical personnel aboard its vessels.
Special Needs Guests
MSC Cruises welcomes guests with special needs and makes every effort to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities. In order for us to provide the appropriate assistance, we request you provide us in writing at the time of booking, but no less than 72 hours prior to departure, details of any disability or medical or mental condition which may require or make advisable special accommodations, or the use of a wheelchair or other equipment, or medical treatment. • Wheelchairs: We advise guests using a wheelchair to travel with someone who is able to assist them both aboard and ashore. Some ports of call require tenders to go ashore and may preclude guests using wheelchairs from leaving the vessel; this decision must be made by the ship’s Master and is binding. Guests must bring wheelchairs for their own use. Only a limited number of wheelchairs are available on board. MSC Cruises offers a limited number of wheelchair accessible staterooms. Please note that in non-wheelchair staterooms there is a 2-inch riser in front of the bathroom and doors are 29.5 inches wide. If you wish to receive additional detailed information about the accessibility features of our ships, have your travel agent contact us at 1-800-666-9333.
• Pregnancy: MSC Cruises cannot accept expectant mothers who will have entered the 27th week or third trimester of their pregnancy by the beginning of or at anytime during their cruise.
Non-Shipboard Activities
MSC Cruises acts only as agent for the supplier of other off-ship services such as airlines, transportation carriers, shore excursions and accommodations. Guests are reminded to keep all receipts and/or tickets issued by such off-ship suppliers, as the guests’ only recourse for injury, death, loss or damage caused while not on board the vessel will be against such off-ship suppliers.
Independent Contractors
MSC sells optional shore excursions aboard its vessels. These shore excursions are operated by independent contractors over which MSC has no control. MSC’s vessels carry onboard service providers which may include hairdressers, manicurists, masseuses, photographers, entertainers, fitness instructors, shopkeepers, medical personnel and other service providers who are independent contractors. MSC is not responsible for the actions of independent contractors that work aboard its vessels or provide services to MSC’s guests.
Responsibility
MSC Cruises is not to be held responsible for any act, error or omission during the time guests are not aboard the MSC Cruises vessels. MSC Cruises acts only as an agent for the supplier of the other off-ship services such as airlines, and transportation carriers, shore excursions and accommodations as featured in this brochure. Guests agree not to hold MSC Cruises, its owners or agents, responsible or liable for any loss, injury, expense or damage which results directly or indirectly from any act of omission, whether negligent or otherwise, of any third party person or firm which is to, or does, provide goods or services in connection with the trip or any available option. Without limiting the foregoing, MSC Cruises shall have no liability to guests for the quality of services and the condition, cleanliness or safety of a hotel, housing facility or conveyance, or for any transportation delay, including but limited to liability for inconvenience, shortened vacation time, additional expenses, or any other kind of damage. MSC Cruises expressly disclaims all responsibility of any nature whatsoever for any loss, damage or injury to property or person resulting from air, rail or motor coach transportation. It is MSC Cruises’ mission to provide a safe and enjoyable cruise to all guests. If, at any time, the Captain believes that a guest is a danger to himself or herself or is a danger to any other MSC Cruises guest or crew member, or if a guest causes a disturbance which affects the peaceful enjoyment of the cruise by other guests, the Captain can deny a guest passage or can choose to terminate early the voyage of such person. MSC Cruises will not be responsible to refund any portion of the fare paid by the guest put off the vessel and will not be responsible for the cost of lodging, food, transportation or other expenses incurred by the guest after being put off the ship. Note: Information contained herein is subject to change without notice and MSC Cruises reserves the right to refuse to honor any prices that are erroneously printed or quoted. MSC Cruises is not responsible for any misprints appearing in this brochure.
